History

Dicle University Faculty of Dentistry, originally established in 1976 with 27 students. It commenced its educational activities in the building located in Dağkapı, which is now known as Tigris Hotel. Practical training for students and dental healthcare services for patients were provided in the prefabricated buildings within the Faculty of Medicine.

In 1981, the faculty was renamed as Dicle University and temporarily moved to the building in the Dağkapı Hospitals area, previously used as the Red Crescent Blood Bank. Later on, it relocated to the A floor of the Faculty of Medicine building on the campus, where healthcare services for patients were offered, and administrative services were provided on the 5th floor.

In 1993, the faculty moved to its current campus building where it continues to serve the entire region with 8 main departments, offering education, research, and healthcare services.

Presently, Dicle University Faculty of Dentistry operates with 24 Professors, 8 Associate Professors, 12 Assistant Professors, 95 Research Assistants, DUS (Dental Specialty Examination) students, and 11 administrative staff. Since its establishment, the faculty has graduated 1490 dentists and 201 doctoral students. In the academic year 2022-2023, it continues its activities with 746 enrolled students.
